Comics for iPad & Android
Branded interfaces, UI design and template development for mobile comic book apps
At Plausible Labs, I designed interface “skins” for publisher and series-specific editions of Comics for iPad (developed for ComiXology). I made the visual interface for the Scott Pilgrim iPad app, released in concert with the feature film, applying the series brand standards to our platform.
Once immersed in the skinning process, having designed apps for The Walking Dead, Bone, and TokyoPop (latter two coming soon), I developed a robust template/tool enabling our client’s in-house developers to layout their own mock-ups for review and create final interface assets.
I contributed user experience and interface design as we translated Comics onto Android, and to the forthcoming 2.0 release of the Comics for iPad app. Working in tandem with Plausible’s Android developer, I designed interface elements and information architecture for various functional components, including the page “scrubber” (allowing quick scanning and moving inside the reader), app settings, user account menus, and a comic-retailer locator which integrated with Google's mapping API.
