Personalized, interest-powered recommendations for users of washingtonpost.com, Personal Post is integrated across the site and in email newsletters. The product allows explicit subscription — users can add all relevant topics with the ease of a Like button — and employs browsing history and collaborative filtering to drive deeper engagement and longer time-on-site for its users.
The product is smart beyond "more from this topic" and "people-like-you also read" recommendations: behind the scenes, the Trove platform features WP articles as they peak within their respective sections and topics as interest accelerates across global news publishers.
Personal Post further served as a proof-of-concept and testing grounds for a single stream interface for the Washington Post on mobile web featuring an adaptive personalized and social experience de-emphasizing the standard, but tricky-to-navigate newspaper sections.
